Demi has been kind enough to take some time off his busy schedule to do an interview with us.
SOS? How did this come about?
The SOS project kicked off now almost 3 years ago but at that time we never had the intention of setting out to do something in particular. Des, Omid and myself have been friends for a while and I was always going to some of their earlier parties they hosted called the Big Mojo and the love just grew from there. I had them come down individually to play at my Deeper Substance night. Our love for each other's music and our personalities have just grown and grown from there and we have since run a series of parties in London and several boat parties as well as our regular opening and closing Ibiza weekend sessions at El Ayoun.
With a grueling touring schedule how do u find time for television and bowling?
I miss a good throw in the bowling alley I have this overarm swerve technique using the lightest ball - STRIKE all the way...who's up for it
What are some of the craziest things you have witnessed while touring?
The one memory that sticks clearly in my head was when I played at Cavo Paradiso with Pete Tong in Mykonos. It was so hot in front of the booth on the dancefloor and was drinking away just as I had finished and saw a small group of people where gesturing to me to give them water - at least that's what I thought. In fact they wanted me to grab the bucket of ice that had melted into water and pour it all over them - how can u pass up a laugh like that so I drenched them - I was in stitches
Name one track that will always be in your record bag?
Too many but one that sticks to mind. I'm currently consistently smashing a track called AGAIN by Stathis Lazardies - twisted and no obvious but become a Demi anthem this past year
Tell us a little bit about “Deeper Substance” and what we should expect from it in the future.
The label is going great we are now into our 6th release which looks set to be the most complete package yet - Ortroka - T2 is out late November and has truly a mix for everybody including a first remix outing for a few years from Leon Roberts and current producer favourite of mine called Yoshi Chandler aka Alex Kenji. 2007 will focuses a lot more on 4 EP's from 4 very talented underground artists as well as the world exclusive TOBY FLOWERZ release
While visiting so many different countries you must have been exposed to some exquisite food. What are some of the best places you’ve eaten at?
Tsibili in Georgia recently had some of the most amazing meat I've ever eaten. But nothing quite beats a pork kebab Cypriot style.
What drives you to DJ and produce?
Music is the motivational force behind it all :)
Posh Spice or the Queen?
Royalty any day....lol
Where do you see dance music in the next 10 years?
Getting better than it was 10 years ago
What advice do you have for aspiring DJ’s?
Bang as many birds as possible and build the biggest female fan base you can ....seriously, work hard, be honest, be true to what u feel is your sound and learn to inspire as well as be inspired
- ONE LOVE d x
