dunno about spinning, but I do know about bootleg trading on cdr's.

For audio, generally the best cd's are made in Japan, however almost all that you see in the store are made in Taiwan. It'll be in the very, very small print somewhere on the label. Japanese made disks are usually substantially more expensive than Taiwanese.

The best brand - according to the conventional wisdom - are Taiyo Yudens, but they can be pretty pricey. They're also almost impossible to buy in the store, and have to be ordered online.

But in my opinion, cd quality isn't going to make that much of a difference when you're spinning in a club. One of the main issues with cdr's is longevity - how long does the disk last for - and spinning is pretty ephemeral, so a year or two less shelf life isn't going to bother you.

Also, club accoustics are far from optimal, and if you're mixing from 192 or 240 kbs mp3's then cd quality isn't going to affect sound quality to any noticeable difference.

I'd worry more about protecting the disks and not getting them scratched. Always put them back in their case/sleeve and don't just dump them on the console

I agree with TDKs, they always get good reviews with less chance of them becoming coasters. Also, make sure to burn your cds at a slower speed to decrease chance of errors. I always burn at 4x.
