Danny Howells Quote from his LAST DANCE party at ARC:
"To all of you who came down for my final arc party, I couldn't have asked for a greater way to end what has been the most amazing and unforgettable residency. That was EXACTLY the party I was hoping for ... the Wizard waving his orb from the speaker, the "Danny" girls on the other speaker,... But all I wanted to say was thankyou for being a MAJOR part of what has been an amazing couple of years for me - .... Anyway, I'll leave it at that, but again - thankyou SO MUCH to all of you, I'll miss seeing you every month but, as I've said many times, New York is my favourite city, so don't expect me to ever stay away too long - because I won't.
Much love. Danny xox"

But yeah during the WMC when you have soo many options I can understand skipping the major clubs in favor of smaller parties. | |
Yeah but it was different at Space in Miami...I loved going there every year especially for the terrace...but this year they made it $67 in advance to get in and you had to be there by 1am just to get in unless you would wait hours to pay $80..and every year previously for the Yoshi party we would go around 8am (last year 5am and got in at 7:30) because the party we wanted to go to diddnt start until around 8am. So, this year it wasn't even possible unless we wanted to miss Lee @ BED and go to Space at 1am AND still pay $67. It's just such a clusterphuck there...worse than anything I have seen. NOt worth it anymore. I would pay $40 for a good night at a club but when it goes to $60-80 I pass. Granted, whenever I go to Crobar in NYC I go early and haven't paid more than $20 to get in there (usually free on Fridays) but Space is just in a different realm now. ANd tha'ts how I associate all bit Miami clubs like Crobar as well, even though I am sure Nocturnal is better and maybe Twilo and new clubs opening won't be quite as big of a hassle.

Who is the pasty skinned cokehead?
Anyway, that's my point. There were some AMAZING parties at Space but all of them except the Lawler night were $67 advanced and $80 at the door. Now, there were some sick parties there this year...but there were other awesome things going on all over Miami that were much more reasonable, and that's what we opted for!

lol he was kidding... but c'mon I would say that a good amount of the dj's spinning are on something.
And some of the more known dj's are pasty colored by comparison to others. I mean Danny Howells looks like a ghost compared to all you tanned people in the WMC pics.

yeah, he needs to do something like put more eyeliner on or something.
i could care less about the door prices. most of the time i don't head out until midnight or 1am anyway and i'd like to stay at the club for more than 4 hours...so downtown is my only option. thankfully every year they book djs i want to see. i'd def take the downtown clubs over the sobe clubs any day.
"Rise in Boston is, for me, one of the most important clubs in North America right now. It is the complete opposite of all the glammed-up, bottle-service clubs that have spread like wildfire. The emphasis is on the music, the loyal customers who attend, the sound, etc etc. All the things that I feel are so important, yet are so sadly neglected in way too many places these days. It's always a pleasure to play at Rise - I know I'll be given the best platform to do what I do to the best of my ability, in one of the friendliest and most welcoming of environments."

And Digweed is practically a brotha compared to Howells, or Hawtin.
My comment was on DJ's in general.
Anyone who sleeps all day, and plays records for 8 hours straight at night is going to be A) Pale, B) On something.

Agreed but I mean it's been done before. The SF that was on 52nd St. up until a few years ago was originally where Twilo stood.
There is a Crobar in NYC and Miami.... And there's a Bed in Miami and isn't there one opening in NYC as well?
I guess they figured they would do the same thing but instead of importing from south to north they would reverse the process. hehe!

67 to get in for 3 nights was well worth it...it's wmc..what do u expect esp with those ridiculous lineups...save up...but the smaller parties were good like@pawnshop for digweed my friends and i decided that next year it's only worth going to space or nikki for the most part minus some other party here or there...best venues in our opinion, and we had the most fun there
and w/ twilo coming, i'm asking myself why the hell am i moving from south beach back to dc

it didn't use to be that much for those same ridiculous lineups. that was sara's point. this year was my 5th wmc and it has not always been that expensive. But I didn't miss Space at all. The other clubs this year stepped up their line ups and I for one could have cared less about what went on at Space! But I'm glad that you felt you got your money's worth

A chain of nightclubs sounds kinda mainstream and cheesey like going to TGIFridays!
My point was that names are re-used for whatever purposes....be it a chain or owners wanting to use the same name of a previously exsisting club hoping to bring the same "feeling" from one place to another.
