Texas Governor thinks Obama's Army is about to attack Texas and take everyone's guns!

Texas governor tells State Guard to monitor Army training
By PAUL J. WEBER
Apr. 28, 2015 6:53 PM EDT

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott on Tuesday asked the State Guard to monitor a U.S. military training exercise dubbed "Jade Helm 15" amid Internet-fueled suspicions that the war simulation is really a hostile military takeover.

The request comes a day after more than 200 people packed a meeting in rural Bastrop County and questioned a U.S. Army commander about whether the government was planning to confiscate guns or implement martial law. Bastrop County Judge Paul Pape said "conspiracy theorists" and "fear mongers" had been in a frenzy.

Pape thanked Abbott for the letter to the Texas State Guard, which he believed helped emphasize the benefit of the military training rather than further fuel theorists.

"It's a sad when people's greatest fear is their own government," Pape said. "Think about the ramification of that. If Americans go to sleep at night worrying whether their own government is going to sell them out before morning, it'd be hard to sleep."

Suspicions about Jade Helm intensified on some conservative websites and social media after a map labeled Texas, Utah and parts of California as "hostile" for the purposes of the three-month training exercise that begins in July. Such war simulations aren't unusual, though the Army has acknowledged that the size and scope of Jade Helm makes it unique.

Texas and six other states are hosting the exercises on public and private lands. The Army says the terrain and topography in the areas selected are ideal to replicate foreign combat zones.

No other governor had so publicly addressed the training exercise.

"It is important that Texans know their safety, constitutional rights, private property rights and civil liberties will not be infringed," Abbott wrote. "By monitoring the Operation on a continual basis, the State Guard will facilitate communications between my office and the commanders of the Operation to ensure that adequate measures are in place to protect Texans."

U.S. Army Lt. Col. Mark Lastoria told the crowd in Bastrop on Monday that the exercise will involve 1,200 soldiers and all four branches of the military, according to the Austin American-Statesman. He said people with a "personal agenda" about the exercise had been spreading misinformation.

Lastoria spoke for two hours, but some left the meeting still unconvinced.

Pape told The Associated Press that some came from as far as Houston and Dallas to attend the meeting. He said the county could reap as much as $150,000 in economic activity from the exercise, which in Bastrop is set to include 60 soldiers, two Humvees and a helicopter.

Bastrop County is home to Camp Swift, the largest base for the Texas National Guard, and Pape said most people likely won't even notice.

"There's been a lot of dust thrown in the air, a lot of haze," Pape said. "Those who wanted to raise concerns on the one hand succeeded. They've raised a lot of attention about this. But the fact is the message is clear: Jade Helm is a well-designed and a well-constructed training operation."

Maybe Barry is planning on taking over Austin to save it from the idiots and then kicking the rest of the state out of the union. One can only dream!

as vindictive as any one can be you dont think Barry likes to tweak at anything Texas????

reading deeper into whats been going on the past few Barry ABSOLUTELY has some grand plans
Wth his private nationnal civilian army ,brown shirt units or whatever hes calling them these day.

The complete millitirization and extra powers afforded groups like the BLM, Homeland Sec. and the IRS couple that with the sheer amount of AMmo he has stockpiled the 6 yrs in office does make for some head scratching

So you think it's far more likely that Barry is messing with Texas, rather than having the military conduct training in the only part of our country that is both sparsely populated and most closely resembles the terrain that our soldiers fight in overseas? I agree that our non-military agencies, especially the police are over-militarized because of the unintended consequences of giving away all that military surplus. However, don't forget that the fringe groups and lone individuals government agencies have to deal with these days are also armed to the teeth. Many of these wackjobs believe the government doesn't even have the right to enforce laws or collect taxes and respond to government requests with guns drawn. As far as stockpiling ammo goes, don't forget, ever since President Blackenstein got elected, ammo was flying off the shelves cause idiots thought there was a race war coming and/or the government was gonna take their guns and make ammo illegal. The federal government also had to ensure it had enough ammo in response to the demand and supply.

Texas isn't the only state where the exercises are being conducted. They're also using nearby states because of the terrain. FT Benning, Georgia isn't exactly full of deserts and mountains, which is the type of stuff our troops tend to encounter in combat these days. The run on ammo and guns picked up as soon as Barry got elected, since the NRA was stoking fears that the first thing he'd do is get rid of the 2nd Amendment. After Newtown, the run wasn't just on ammo, but specifically 5.56 mm rounds and AR-15 rifles, since the everyone thought Barry would outlaw them because of the shooting. When the Texas government has to actually dignify the public's concern that Barry's army might be planning to take over by directing National Guard troops in response, it's safe to say that there's more than just a handful of fringe group members over there. There's a large enough proportion of the population that believes in that nonsense to constitute a voting block. I guess the worst thing Barry did for race relations was getting elected. Lots of people are upset that uppity negro didn't know his place and actually dared to stand up for black people.

Texas rushing to judgement on things they heard or were told.?

Like the good folk of ferguson n Baltimore?

Your first post read like you were saying only Texas looks like the Mid East without mentioning any bordering states

There was no RUN on ammo def. an uptick in purchases after the election

as soon as he starts outlawing certain bullets what would you expect a responsible gun owner to do

And we r still arguing a point I didn't have an argument with
If Texas thinks they are being invaded their crazy
If you don't think Obama will stick it to Texas at every turn he can ..your crazy
