I thought we've beaten this to death already. Just cause investment in new technology didn't pay off doesn't mean it wasn't worth investing in originally. Sure, hindsight is 20/20. Everyone takes for granted that when something works out, it was worth the money. However, without taking a chance on failure, we'd still be living in caves. Furthermore, when it comes to jobs per dollar spent on new tech, it's not the same as construction or factory jobs. You can invest a hundred million in a tech company with 10 employees which would yield billions from their invention eventually.

it's only a tax for people who elect not to pay for health insurance. Right now, everyone who does has to pay for them when they wind up in the ER without insurance.

our resident nutjob's strangely muted about the most conservative supreme court in decades stating that the affordable healthcare act (let's call it by it's real name for once) is in fact constitutional.
I'm going to take your post and explain it to a five year-old:
Bob: Hi, insurance company. I'd like to buy some health insurance.
Insurance company: No. You had cancer when you were 3 years old, and the cancer could come back. We're not selling you health insurance.
Bob: It's not my fault I got cancer when I was three! Besides, that was years ago!
Insurance company: If we sell insurance to you, we'll probably lose money, and we're not doing it.
Bob: But I need insurance more than anyone! My cancer might come back!
Insurance company: We don't care. We're not selling you insurance.
Obama: Hey, that's totally not fair. Bob is right, he does need insurance! Sell Bob some insurance.
Insurance company: If we have to, I guess.
Mary: This is cool. Obama said the insurance company has to sell insurance to anyone who needs it.
Sam: Hey, I have an idea. I'm going to stop paying for health insurance. If I get sick, I can always go buy some insurance then. The insurance company won't be able to say no, because Obama's told them they have to sell it to anyone who needs it!
Dave: that's a great idea! I'm not paying for health insurance either, at least not until I get sick.
Insurance company: Hey! If everyone stops paying for insurance, we'll go bankrupt!
Obama: Oh come on Sam and Dave, that's not fair either.
Dave: I don't care. It saves me money.
Obama: Oh for god's sake. Sam, Dave, you have to keep paying for health insurance, and not wait until you're sick. You too, Mary and Bob.
Mary: But I'm broke! I can't buy insurance! I just don't have any money.
Obama: Mary, show me your piggy bank. Oh, wow, you really are broke. Ok, tell you what. You still have to buy insurance, but I'll help you pay 95% of the cost.
Mary: thank you.
Obama: I need an aspirin.
Insurance company: We're not paying for that aspirin.
Also added should be:
All the people: Wait, won't this just mean we all give money to the companies and they keep it all?
Obama: No, they will be required to spend 85% of what they get paid in premiums on actual healthcare.

This is great for President Romney, we all know how much the tea party hates tax increases , they will come out i droves to support the conservative choice ;President Romney - in November..What Justice Roberts didn’t have the clarity or gumption to do in the Supreme Court, the voters will have to do — in November.Nothing has changed the battle was lost 2 years ago.

My argument is at least Romney flip flopped while he was Governor over a decade ago, not in the past 2 years as the president of the united states in the social media world. What does baraq stand for these days?!?He stands for whatever is popular and will get him elected, whatever will get him the money of wealthy, liberal benefactors like soros and buffett.

Obamacare Raises Taxes on 3 Million Middle-Class Americans
James Sherk, Ashley Shelton, and Stephanie Jaczkowski
June 29, 2012 at 10:30 am
President Obama repeatedly promised not to raise taxes on middle-class families. Yesterday, the Supreme Court ruled that he already has.
Chief Justice John Roberts upheld the President’s health care law on the grounds that the “individual mandate” is a constitutionally permissible tax increase. This violates Obama’s pledge. Middle-class families will pay the vast majority of these new taxes.
Obamacare imposes a penalty—or tax increase—on Americans who do not purchase health insurance. The Congressional Budget Office estimates that most of those paying these taxes are middle-class individuals and families making less than 500 percent of the federal poverty level: $59,000 for an individual and $120,000 for a family of four. Three million lower-income and middle-class Americans will pay an estimated $2 billion in these “mandate taxes.”
The Supreme Court’s interpretation puts the President in a peculiar situation. In 2008, he promised not to raise taxes on the middle class and accused Republican nominee John McCain of wanting to tax health benefits: “And I can make a firm pledge: under my plan, no family making less than $250,000 will see their taxes increase…not any of your taxes. My opponent can’t make that pledge.… [H]e wants to tax your health benefits.” Who could have predicted that Obama would raise taxes on millions of Americans who do not have health insurance?
Obama grossly mischaracterized his health care plan, and now American citizens will pay the price. He has both attacked individual freedom and burdened millions in the middle class.
Barry has had many GW moments , now he has an HW moment.

Eurozone Unemployment Hits New Record High
By The Associated Press
Eurozone Unemployment Hits New Record HighBy PAN PYLAS
LONDON -- Unemployment in the 17-country euro currency bloc hit another record in May as the crippling financial crisis pushed the continent toward the brink of recession, official figures showed Monday.
Eurostat, the EU's statistics office, said unemployment rose to 11.1% in May from 11% the previous month. May's rate was the highest since the euro was launched in 1999 and adds further urgency to the eurozone countries' plan to create economic growth and cut excessive government debt.
At a summit last Friday, eurozone leaders agreed a set of short- and long-term measures to shore up the euro and unveiled a limited economic growth package. Markets have responded positively with a stock market rally which, if sustained, should help buoy economic confidence in the eurozone - a key step to easing the crisis.
But the unemployment data highlighted the extent of the challenge facing European leaders.
May's unemployment rate compares badly with an unemployment rate of 8.2% in the United States and 4.4% in Japan, and is expected to rise further in the coming months as the eurozone economy is forecast to slide back into recession this year.
In total, 17.6 million people were out of work in the eurozone in May, up 88,000 on the month before and 1.8 million more than the level a year earlier.
"The numbers ... indicate ongoing labour market weakness, with further deterioration highly likely in the second half of the year," said Ashley James, senior European economist at RBC Capital Markets.
Unemployment has been edging higher for over a year as concerns over the debt crisis and the future of the euro currency have weighed on economic activity. Businesses have been cutting jobs or delaying hiring as confidence in the economy waned, while many governments have pursued austerity programs, including big job reductions in the public sector.
There are huge disparities across the eurozone, however.
The labor markets of those countries at the front line of the debt crisis, such as Greece and Spain, are suffering most due to their governments' stringent austerity measures and deep recessions. The highest unemployment rate across the eurozone was recorded in Spain, where 24.6% of people were out of work in May. Even more dramatically, 52.1% of the country's youth were unemployed. Greece's youth unemployment rate also stands at 52.1% at last count in March.
"EU policymakers and stakeholders are aware of this potential catastrophe of creating a lost generation, but so far appear powerless to halt the rising jobless figures among young people," said Andrea Broughton, principal research fellow at the Institute for Employment Studies in London.
"This is a huge problem to tackle, but it is essential that young people are encouraged to develop skills that are in demand and that they are given the chance to obtain meaningful work experience that enables them to gain a foothold in the labour market," Broughton added.
Other countries in the eurozone, particularly those in the north, are faring better. Germany's unemployment rate stood at only 5.6%. And its youth unemployment rate stood at only 7.9%, markedly lower than the more than one in two unemployed in both Greece and Spain.
However, a raft of economic indicators in recent weeks have shown that Europe's biggest economy is not immune to the problems in the rest of the region. Germany's exports to other countries in the eurozone are under pressure and business confidence is waning.
Across the wider 27-country European Union, which includes non-euro countries such as Britain and Poland, unemployment edged up to 10.3% in May from 10.2% the month before.

Romney: Obamacare raises taxes on the American people by approximately $500 billion.
It’s certainly true that the health care law would raise taxes on some Americans, particularly those with higher incomes. The law includes a Medicare payroll tax of 0.9 percent on income over $200,000 for individuals or $250,000 for couples, and a 3.8 percent tax on investment income for those earning that much. The Joint Committee on Taxation estimated that the biggest chunk of revenue — $210.2 billion — comes from those taxes.
There are other taxes in the health care law — including an excise tax on the manufacturers of certain medical devices and on indoor tanning services. The health care law included $437.8 billion in tax revenue over 10 years, according to the Joint Committee on Taxation‘s calculations. Republicans tend to add in fees on individuals who don’t obtain health insurance (which the Supreme Court now agrees can be considered taxes) and businesses that don’t provide it to bump that up to about $500 billion.
Some taxes, such as those on medical devices, may or may not be passed on to consumers in the form of higher prices, but a large majority of Americans would not see any direct tax increase from the health care law.

I agree. That's why the Individual Mandate will finally stop uninsured people from taking money from hard working Americans to cover their health care when they get sick. Time for everyone to assume personal responsibility for paying for their own health insurance, rather than expecting other tax payers to foot the bill for them. The health care system in our country was socialism before Obamacare. People were getting free health care at emergency rooms paid for by other people's money. Too bad Romney doesn't have the balls to take credit for the only really good idea he had thus far.

The Top Ten Worst Things in Obamacare

“We have to pass the bill so you can find out what is in it.”
— Former Speaker Nancy Pelosi, March 2010
Now, all the rest of us are going to find out a lot more about what’s in the 2,700-page health overhaul law.
The president now must spend the next four months defending a law that the majority of Americans dislike, and the more they learn about it, the more they dislike it. Worse, the part of the law that is the least popular — the individual mandate — has now been declared a tax.
That’s double jeopardy for the president: The unpopular mandate stands, and it is called a tax. (And this is only one of the 20 new and higher taxes in the law.) Either the president admits it’s a tax as a way of keeping the law on the books, or he says that the Supreme Court is wrong, that it’s not a tax, in which case his law would be invalid.
It’s important to note that the Court did not “uphold Obamacare.” Two specific provisions were being challenged before the Court — the individual mandate and the Medicaid expansion. If either had been struck, then the Court could have decided whether or not to take down the whole law.
Instead, it reached a very narrow decision. The individual mandate is valid as a tax, says the Court. Now, otherwise free citizens will be required to spend our own personal, after-tax money to purchase an expensive private product — $20,000 a year for an average family — or pay a tax. And the Court said the federal government can tell states to dramatically expand their Medicaid programs but that they can’t be coerced with the threat of losing all of their federal Medicaid money if they refuse.
So let’s get ready for the debate. About seven in ten Americans had told pollsters they wanted the Supreme Court to strike down all or part of the health overhaul law. Since it didn’t do that, we all must be armed with the facts as the battles continue at least into November so the voters can issue the final verdict.
Here’s a quick checklist of the ten worst things in the law — in addition to the individual and Medicaid mandates:
1. Employer mandate. Most companies will have to provide and pay for expensive government-determined health insurance for their employees or face federal fines.
2. Anti-conscience mandate. Religious organizations will be required to provide free sterilization, contraceptives, and abortion-inducing drugs to their employees, even if it violates their religious beliefs.
3. New and higher taxes. The law contains at least 20 new taxes totaling $500 billion that will hit medical innovators, health insurance, and even the sale of your home.
4. The Independent Payment Advisory Board. IPAB will still stand, with its rationing power over Medicare.
5. State exchanges. States will be compelled to set up vast new bureaucracies to check into our finances and families so they can hand out generous taxpayer subsidies for health insurance to families earning up to $90,000 a year.
6. Medicare payment cuts. $575 billion in payment reductions to Medicare providers and Medicare Advantage plans will cause more and more physicians to stop seeing Medicare patients, exacerbating access problems.
7. Higher health-care costs. The Kaiser Family Foundation says the average price of a family policy has risen by $2,200 during the Obama administration. The president promised premiums would be $2,500 lower by this year. Hospitals, doctors, businesses, and consumers all expect their taxes and health costs to rise under Obamacare.
8. Government control over doctor decisions.Value-based payments, quality reporting requirements, and government comparative-effectiveness boards will dictate how doctors practice medicine. Nearly half of all physicians are seriously considering leaving practice, leading to a severe doctor shortage.
9. Huge deficits. The CBO has raised its cost estimate for the law to $1.76 trillion over ten years, but that is only the opening bid as more and more people lose their job-based coverage and flood into taxpayer-subsidized insurance. At this rate, the cost will be $2 trillion, not the less than $1 trillion the president promised.
10. 159 new boards, agencies, and programs: The Obama administration will work quickly to set up as many of the law’s new bureaucracies as fast as it can so they can take root before the election.
The November elections are the last hope — we must elect a Congress and a president committed to repealing Obamacare. They, and all of us, will need to be armed with the facts to explain to the American people exactly what is in this monstrous law.

BREAKING: June Doom Jobs Report Released
Bert Atkinson Jr. July 6, 2012 9:20 am
CNBC is reporting that the U.S. economy created only 80,000 jobs in June, keeping unemployment at 8.2 percent for the second month in a row. About one-third of the jobs gained were in temporary services; typically a good sign at the beginning of a recovery, but not so much three years in to it.
With June’s lackluster jobs report, Obama now must hope to see positive improvement in the four remaining months leading up to the elections if he stands any chance at using the economy as any part of his campaign arguments.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics said private payrolls increased 84,000, while the government lost 4,000 jobs.
With yet another month of weak employment growth, the second quarter marks the weakest such period in two years.”
May’s jobs report showed growth of only 77,000 jobs, and the past three months are averaging gains of only 75,000 jobs. To keep up with population growth, America needs to add somewhere in the range of 125,000 to 150,000 jobs per month.
This is a stark contrast to the 226,000 jobs per month average of the first quarter of 2012. The U.S. is still trailing last year’s numbers through the first half of the year.
On a positive note, manufacturing did, however, show modest gains: payrolls improved by 11,000.
A poll of economists conducted by Bloomberg showed expectations of a gain of 100,000 jobs, but clearly this report falls short of those expectations once again. This miserable report could cause the Federal Reserve to take further action to jumpstart the economy; last month they downgraded their 2012 economic outlook by changing their growth prediction from 2.4 percent to 1.9 percent.
This is not good news for Obama. According to Real Clear Politics average of 7 different polls, Obama holds only a 2.6 point lead – virtually a statistical tie. The latest Gallup poll shows that 47% of Americans disapprove of the job President Obama is doing.
Don’t forget about Barack Obama’s whirlwind change in immigration policy either. According to Ed Morissey of Hot Air, “The pledge to issue work permits means that we may potentially add 1.2 million workers to the workforce over the next two years. That means we will have to add jobs at a rate closer to 200,000 per month just to keep up with population growth and the policy change.”
SHARE this miserable job report with your Obama supporting friends!
More bad news for the 8% president.

Broader Jobless Rate Ticks Up to 14.9%
By Phil Izzo
The U.S. unemployment rate was unchanged at 8.2% in June but a broader measure rose to 14.9% as the ranks of the underemployed grew.
The jobless rate was unchanged even at the number of people who consider themselves employed jumped by 128,000.. The unemployment rate is calculated based on people who are without jobs, who are available to work and who have actively sought work in the prior four weeks, and that number rose just 29,000. The “actively looking for work” definition is fairly broad, including people who contacted an employer, employment agency, job center or friends; sent out resumes or filled out applications; or answered or placed ads, among other things. The rate is calculated by dividing that number by the total number of people in the labor force. When the unemployed return to the labor force, both numbers increase and the unemployment rate climbs.
In June, the reason the rate didn’t decline was that while the number of employed increased, so did the labor force — by a larger 189,000 people. That is a worrying sign in that the labor force is growing faster than job growth. If that continues, the unemployment rate could be headed higher.
Meanwhile, the broader unemployment rate, known as the “U-6″ for its data classification by the Labor Department, was up even higher in June. The U-6 figure includes everyone in the official rate plus “marginally attached workers” — those who are neither working nor looking for work, but say they want a job and have looked for work recently; and people who are employed part-time for economic reasons, meaning they want full-time work but took a part-time schedule instead because that’s all they could find.
In June, the increase in the U-6 rate was driven by a jump in the number of part-time workers who would prefer a full-time job. The number of discouraged workers declined, which kept the overall rate from rising higher. That figure may be held down as thousands lose their unemployment benefits, and give up their tenuous hold on the labor force.
