New to DC, suggestions from the pros?

Hey all,

I just moved to the DC-area and started looking around the net to see where the hot spots are. There really weren't any house or trance clubs where I came from, so I'm looking forward to catching up on what I've been missing. So far, sat. nights at Glow seem to be the best bet. I've also heard some stuff about the Nation. I don't know many people here yet, so I'm relying on any advice you can give on how to start off right. Thanks a lot,

NewDCKid
(PS - I'm a kid at heart, but I'm 23 so I can get in any place)

Glow is pretty much the only place for you trance/prog fix at the moment. Code @ Nation is gone, Destination @ dc tunnel just ended last night.
however Buzz will be back at Nation under it's new guise Cubik on sept. 16th, so I'm sure that will be great, albeit with an insane security clamp down.
also, Club Five near dupont circle books some pretty sweet house/techno DJs for it's friday night venture (Bryan Zentz, D:Fuse, Dave Ralph), for the 21+ crowd.

if that's not enough for you, you could always do like me and go up to Arc and Roxy in NYC now and then

Yeah, that sounds about right... DC area people regularly make trips up to NYC to see some of the bigger names that more frequently are in that area (this past weekend, Saeed & Palash, and Danny Tenaglia, for instance).

A lot of us are waiting with baited breath to see what Cubik -- the new Buzzlife party at Nation -- is going to do. We can always count on Glow for trance and progressive, though, in an area where those genres are sorely underrepresented...

The scene in DC for trance/house/techno is not that great except for glow and and the soon to be cubik at nation. Like someone said before, basically you gonna have to take a trip to NY every now and then for your music fix. You are in luck though cuz plenty of people on this board in this area head up there quite often, so make friends.

Thanks for the heads up. NY sounds cool, but I'll still try some of these spots in DC. Maybe I'll meet up with some of you there. I'll keep an eye on the board too to see what else comes up. later

You also should check out Thursday's at the Blue Room in Adam's Morgan - more of a lounge atmosphere, but the local dj's that spin on Thursday are top notch.

Also, try Open Door on Friday's - can't remember where.

Check out the Buzzlife's msg board - much more comphrensive listing of what's going on in DC - from small parties to larger ones that are held at Nation, DC Tunnel, Glow etc.
