It’s July 4th, and Sunday Best is throwing together the best doggone backyard barbecue in Brooklyn. We’re at our new home in beautiful Bushwick, with the sound system set up under the wide-open sky in Brooklyn Fire Proof’s courtyard, the grill heating up fresh-ground burgers, corn on the cob and hot dogs (courtesy of our friends at Taccolada)… and then there’s the music.
Every DJ we host to play with us at Sunday Best is an ace, but rarely do they fit in so well with the spirit of a particular day as Rich Medina. God made Rich for holidays like July 4th; he’s always on the same page as the crowd, able to drop the perfect song at the perfect moment, whether it’s that 90s hip-hop anthem that everyone knows or the obscure but strangely familiar disco jam that everyone wishes they knew. We’ve been having fantasies of hamburger-holding hands waving in the air since the moment we asked him to play with us, and we’re excited that it’s finally here.
Of course the Sunday Best boys will be out in full force, too, with Doug, Eamon and Justin digging into their bags for the party jams to make you happy you've stayed in the city instead of trekking out in the trafficked highways and beaches. It's good to be at home.
