I have to say - I was apprehensive to go to Howells because Vic [at Centro-Fly] was good and the last two times I saw Howells he was so slow, never progressed and I was bored and falling asleep. But we left Centro around 3:00 and headed to Arc. (We really wished George and Dan would have joined us - they wouldn't not have been sorry!) We walked into Arc to a packed house and some SICK beats. I saw Teamj5 and talked his ear off - then I saw 2 of my good buddies from college. Was glad to see Ruben, Olga and Cha Cha got there OK and everyone else was there too. Howells was ON from start to finish. Ann and I were just in AWE. We could not stop dancing the ENTIRE night. I kept saying "so good. This is so good!" Ann kept saying "he is trying to kill me!" My God. He was good. I have NEVER heard him spin like this. The entire time we were there he spun HARD...awesome tracks, awesome selection and mixing....kept building and then breaking it down, working the crowd, he was SO into it...all fast hard shit making us dance our asses off.
The 6 hours I heard of Howells is usually what he spins for 2 hours at Arc after taking so long to build. He was just so amazing last night. It was by far the best set of his I'd ever heard - like he was a different man - aiming to please and just banging it out. He knew what his crowd wanted. The vibe was so sick. We were so into it. I have never been that hyper or danced that much - even in Miami! I was drenched in sweat but we couldn't stop. And I was sober!!! The shots had worn off and I just had a little stay awake help from Addy. It was on the of top sets I have ever seen any DJ spin. And it took my through a journey - some tracks were just so powerful and he was dropping them at the exact right moment - the only slow track he played - was this soft, trancy, female vocal track he played in the last half of his set. I don't know the name - but it was beautiful. I just had this powerful moment where I didn't want to be anywhere else. Then BAMN! He has us dancing our asses off again. Building it up - breaking it down - the sound system was just so good. Ann and I were just in awe the entire night.
And Danny was just so cute. So into it - so so cute. He spun 3 encores - his last one was right after he was given his huge "Thank you" card from everyone and spun a sick track with the lights on. I really hope someone can provide a track listing!
After he was done it was about 9:20 I think and we hugged him and said how on he was. He is such a great guy and that night won a #1 spot for me. It compares to my best clubbing nights - including PvD in Miami and other parties. IT was just absolutely phenomenal. Now maybe I just hadn't given Danny a fair chance in the past. I've seen him numerous times at Arc - I haven't seen him anywhere else except NY and Miami. And some sets at Arc were very good - others were mediocre. But he has a following for a reason. Tj5 is a Danny DJ whore for a reason. And now I really know why. That man rocked it like no other last night.
Whew!
